Outback Photos

Outback Photos, finally ready to go.

First of all let me say I have been a bit slack keeping up with writing blogs. There never seems to be enough hours in the day. The preparation for this trip has been going on for awhile now. You don't release sometimes how neglected your poor vehicle can get. Heading into the outback of Australia needs good vehicle preparation to say the least.

Especially as we will be taking in some fairly isolated areas. Also where looking at covering about 10,000 kilometres and most of that will be on dirt roads. And some of it only accessible to high clearance 4x4, Next challenge was organising our travelling vehicle  so that everything was packed well and easily accessible when need.  I reckon the Old Landrover has a smile on its face with all the attention it’s getting.  Well it’s 30 years old, I have had it for 20 and it’s never let me down. Mind you we have had our moments, and as with most things it is usually drive induced.

We had a pretty good idea where we wanted to go.All we needed was the route that was going to get us there. with interesting photo opportunities along the way. Also something that creates a bit of a challenge when travelling our chosen route. Not just staying on black bitumen. Our route will take us from Lyndoch, Lyndhurst, Marree, up the Oodnadatta Track to William Creek, and then on to Cooper Pedy. From there we will take the Anne Beadell Highway to Laverton in WA. We will then travel further into the Pilbara looking for great photo opportunities on our way to Karlamilyi National Park. We’ll spend a bit of time there and then continue on our way up to the Kimberly's and the Gibb River road and see what it holds for us .

So as you can see we have been very busy over the last 14 months in preparing and planning this trip. With the aim of collect some fantastic photos of the Australian Outback. And of course we still needed to keep the Gallery and photography moving along. This as some of you would know, takes a fair bit of time these days. With planning the route  so one knows what permits are required where you can and can't go.

As I am always looking for something different to capture with my photography. Go to out of the way places holds a great fascination for me.

What we’re going to try and do is keep regular updates and adding images as we find them. This of course is dependent on when we get to larger towns to get internet reception.

Cheers Peter
