Cathederal Gorge

Spectacular Cathedral Gorge Bungle Bungles.

Cathedral Gorge is part of the Bungle Bungle Range located in the Purnululu National Park. Well I must say it was an adventure the drive into the park itself  45 kilometres and as rough as buggery. it took us nearly 3 hours to cover that distance. Mind you I did stop to grab a few photos on the way in. But the drive was worth it, the scenery as we drove towards our destination was awesome. Just the variety of vegetation and rocky outcrops. We camped in the Purnululu National Park for a couple of days. I mainly wanted to capture Cathedral Gorge and the colourful beehive shaped rock formations. Photographing Cathedral Gorge was quite challenging do to the fact of the lighting conditions , dim inside very bright sunlight looking out of the opening of the amphitheatre. The biggest challenge was trying to photograph it without any people around. I had arrived there about 7-45am by 8-00am the first busload had arrived . I spent about 3 hours waiting till the numbers had reduced quite significantly. As it turned out the few people that were in Cathedral Gorge helps to create a authentic feel about the image.
